Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 sticks unsalted butter (softened)

- Pink and red gel food coloring
- Valentine’s Day nonpareil sprinkles
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder; set aside.

- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; blend until a dough forms.
- Divide dough into three parts. Color one part red, another pink, and leave the last section plain.
- Roll each colored portion into flat sheets about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut shapes using a cookie cutter; refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out remaining dough into ropes around the cookie shapes before chilling again.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and slice dough into cookies before baking them for about 8–10 minutes.
