Ingredients
- 1.5 cups uncooked short-grain rice
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 nori seaweed sheet
- 1 can (7 oz) Spam
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp potato starch (katakuriko)
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Cook the rice according to your rice cooker instructions.
- Once cooked, mix in the toasted sesame seeds.
- Cut the nori sheet into six strips.
- Slice Spam into six pieces and fry in oil until browned.
- Prepare sauce by combining soy sauce, sake, rice vinegar, and sugar in the pan used for frying Spam until thickened.
- Shape musubi by layering rice and Spam in a cling-wrapped tin, then wrap with nori.
