  • 16 oz mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth; trim stems if necessary.
  2. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and let it brown.
  3. Add the mushrooms; sear for 3–4 minutes without stirring.
  4. Stir in minced garlic; cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Add Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, dried herbs, salt, and pepper; stir to coat.
  6. Lower heat and add the remaining butter and water/broth to deglaze the pan by scraping up browned bits.
  7. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until tender and sauce thickens.
  8. Adjust seasoning and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
