Ingredients
- 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- For ranch dressing: 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the ranch dressing by whisking together mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Gradually add milk until desired consistency is achieved. Refrigerate.
- Mix flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in one bowl. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.
- Coat each mushroom slice in egg mixture followed by the flour mixture. Let them rest for about 5 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
