- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 1–2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before frosting with chocolate buttercream.
