Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110-115°F)
- 1 Tb brown sugar
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2/3 cup baking soda
- Sea salt or pretzel salt for topping
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and kosher salt. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 10 minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix with a dough hook for about 4 minutes until smooth.
- Shape dough into a ball and let it rise in an oiled bowl covered for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Boil water with baking soda in a large pot.
- Divide dough into 8 portions, shape into pretzels, and boil each for 30 seconds before placing on parchment-lined baking sheets.
